These unique cufflinks are made of replica ancient coins featuring Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 – 10/11 June 323 BC). Commonly known as Alexander the Great, he was a king of Macedon, a state in northern ancient Greece. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. By the age of thirty, he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from the Ionian Sea to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful commanders. He became the measure against which military leaders compared themselves, and military academies throughout the world still teach his tactics.

Golden Greek Owl of Wisdom (24mm)

Unique cufflinks made of authentic vintage 1973 polished brass coins from Greece. These type of coins were minted for only one year! In early Indian folklore, owls represent wisdom and helpfulness, and have powers of prophecy. This theme recurs in Greek myths and beliefs. The owl is a symbol of wisdom. In the mythology of ancient Greece, Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, was so impressed by the great eyes and solemnappearance of the owl that, having banished the mischievous crow, she honored the night bird by making him her favorite among feathered creatures. It was believed that a magical "inner light" gave owls night vision. As the symbol of Athena, the Owl was a protector, accompanying Greek armies to war, and providing ornamental inspiration for their daily lives. If an owl flew over Greek Soldiers before a battle, they took it as a sign of victory.

Exquisite cufflinks made from a pair of 1973 authentic vintage coins from Greece. These coins were minted for only one year! Featuring one of the best known fantastical creatures in all mythology. The Phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird with a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle. Near the end of the life-cycle, it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. The Phoenix's ability to be reborn from its own ashes implies that it is immortal. Beautiful gold-like shine & appeal.
